The record to beat
On April 8, 2027, the day culminates where 1,000 people will attempt a world record for the most people taking an ice bath at the same time, followed by a live concert. It will be the most visible heat-safety moment in our country's history, and every school in America can be part of it, from a kindergarten classroom to a Division I football program.
How it works
You do not need a budget, a committee, or a facilities request. You need a trainer, some tubs, and ice.
Sign up your school online. No fee, no contract, no obligation to hit a headcount.
Name one campus coordinator. Your athletic trainer is the natural choice.
Build your emergency plan, heat rules card and acclimatization schedule with the free tools.
On April 8 at 2:00 PM Eastern, athletes at every participating site with athletic trainer coverage enter ice baths for three minutes.
For coaches, trainers & schools
No account and no cost. Each tool runs in your web browser and turns your school’s own details into a finished document you can print, post and share.

For Athletic Departments
Your athletic director will ask three questions: what does it cost, who supervises, and who carries liability. Here are the answers before you have to go find them.

Why It Matters
The treatment is a tub of ice water. It costs almost nothing and it is missing from far too many sidelines.
Start cooling within 10 minutes and reach 102°F within 30.
Football players have died of exertional heat stroke since 1960 — and the rate has not meaningfully improved.
The window. Start cooling on site right away. Cool first, transport second — every minute of delay after collapse raises the risk of death.
Three quarters of NCAA exertional heat illness events happen in football — and preseason is the danger zone.

Why We're Doing This
Eric was a lifelong multisport athlete, until an injury on the football field ended his playing career. He co-founded Ice Athletes on one unshakable belief: that no athlete, in any sport and at any age, should suffer a preventable heat injury. When Eric died in 2026, the family, friends and athletic community he served made a promise that his mission would not end with him.
His mission continues in every athlete who finishes practice on their own two feet.

Two minutes. No fee, no commitment to a headcount, and you can withdraw any time before April 8.
Nothing. No fee, no equipment purchase, no travel. If you already own cold tubs you are ready; if not, livestock stock tanks work and cost very little.
A certified athletic trainer supervises every site — no site operates without one. Your existing athletics waivers and medical protocols govern, with a signed event waiver on top. We provide the waiver template.
Cold-water immersion is the validated field treatment for exertional heat stroke, and the same protocol that makes it safe as a treatment makes it safe as an event: trainer supervision, a hard three-minute limit, pre-participation screening, a buddy system, a warm recovery area, and the freedom to exit at any moment.
Send five or five hundred. Every participant counts toward the national total, and there is no minimum roster size.
No. We manage the application centrally. You submit a tally sheet and timestamped video.
