The record to beat

1,000 people. Three minutes. One stadium.

On April 8, 2027, the day culminates where 1,000 people will attempt a world record for the most people taking an ice bath at the same time, followed by a live concert. It will be the most visible heat-safety moment in our country's history, and every school in America can be part of it, from a kindergarten classroom to a Division I football program.

How it works

4 steps. One day. A safer tomorrow.

You do not need a budget, a committee, or a facilities request. You need a trainer, some tubs, and ice.

For Athletic Departments

Built for college programs.

Your athletic director will ask three questions: what does it cost, who supervises, and who carries liability. Here are the answers before you have to go find them.

  • Zero cost. No fee, no equipment purchase, no travel.
  • A certified athletic trainer supervises every site. No site runs without one.
  • Your existing waivers and protocols govern, with a signed event waiver on top.
  • We handle the Guinness paperwork. You submit a tally sheet and video.
  • 100% of co-branded merch profit comes back to your school for cooling equipment.
College and pro athletes cheer as a teammate sits in an ice bath while an athletic trainer stands by, under the words College and pro: go all in. Register your team for April 8, 2027, the world record ice bath.

Why It Matters

Exertional heat stroke is survivable — if you act fast.

The treatment is a tub of ice water. It costs almost nothing and it is missing from far too many sidelines.

10 min

Start cooling within 10 minutes and reach 102°F within 30.

157 athletes lost

Football players have died of exertional heat stroke since 1960 — and the rate has not meaningfully improved.

10 minutes

The window. Start cooling on site right away. Cool first, transport second — every minute of delay after collapse raises the risk of death.

75% in football

Three quarters of NCAA exertional heat illness events happen in football — and preseason is the danger zone.

Eric, co-founder of Ice Athletes

Why We're Doing This

For Eric. For every athlete.

Eric was a lifelong multisport athlete, until an injury on the football field ended his playing career. He co-founded Ice Athletes on one unshakable belief: that no athlete, in any sport and at any age, should suffer a preventable heat injury. When Eric died in 2026, the family, friends and athletic community he served made a promise that his mission would not end with him.

His mission continues in every athlete who finishes practice on their own two feet.

    Questions athletic directors ask

    What does it cost us?

Nothing. No fee, no equipment purchase, no travel. If you already own cold tubs you are ready; if not, livestock stock tanks work and cost very little.

Who supervises, and who carries liability?

A certified athletic trainer supervises every site — no site operates without one. Your existing athletics waivers and medical protocols govern, with a signed event waiver on top. We provide the waiver template.

Is a three-minute ice bath safe?

Cold-water immersion is the validated field treatment for exertional heat stroke, and the same protocol that makes it safe as a treatment makes it safe as an event: trainer supervision, a hard three-minute limit, pre-participation screening, a buddy system, a warm recovery area, and the freedom to exit at any moment.

What if only a few of our athletes want to do it?

Send five or five hundred. Every participant counts toward the national total, and there is no minimum roster size.

Do we have to file anything with Guinness?

No. We manage the application centrally. You submit a tally sheet and timestamped video.
