Eric Hasenyager was a lifelong multisport athlete, until an injury on the football field ended his playing career.
He didn’t leave sport. He changed sides of the line.
He coached Little League baseball — the age where kids are still working out whether they love the game or just happen to be good at it. He once went to the Little League World Series.
By day he worked at NBCUniversal. Ice Athletes he built at night and on weekends, a passion project, because he believed something simple and would not put it down: that no athlete, in any sport and at any age, should suffer a preventable heat injury.
The treatment that saves those athletes is a tub of ice water. It costs almost nothing. It is still missing from far too many sidelines.
Eric died in 2026, with Ice Athletes still a side project and the work unfinished. His family, his friends, and the athletic community he had spent his life inside made a promise that it would not end with him.
His mission continues in every athlete who finishes practice on their own two feet.
On April 8, 2027, athletes on campuses across America will step into ice baths at the same moment — for the record, and for him.
